I'm Back!! xoxo

So it has been a while, 2 years in fact!!

Last time I blogged I was happily creating for my little store Sweetdipity and blogging about whatever creative project I was working on at the time, but then I went back to work after 9 years as a stay at home Mum!  I started just part time but it quickly turned into almost full time hours and I simply had such little spare time that I had to stop sewing for my beloved Sweetdipity :-(  I missed my little store so much and many times found myself going weeks without stepping foot in my sewing room.  I would walk past the door to the room, glance in and see my beautiful sewing machine sitting there wishing to be used and feel a pang of sadness. Seriously!!

But now I am back and I am so excited!! :-)

I am no longer working and over these past few months I have had Sweetdipity on my mind again, it even keeps me awake at night!!  So, here I am, ready to share my creations and make pretties to sell in my store.  YAY!!!  Being creative is a need for me, it's my ME time.  I feel out of sorts if it has been a while since I have been able to sew something.  I have been sewing of course, LOTS since I have stopped working, but I have missed Sweetdipity and my creative mind has SO many ideas.  I am excited to be back :-)

So, very soon I will post photos of my creations.  I am cutting things out today ready to sew up, my machines are booked in for their yearly service this week and then once they're back I can sew, sew, sew!!!  Eeeek!!

I can't wait to show you what I have made...  See you soon!!

Fabulous Reversible Headbands - A Must Make!!!

Wow, I had to share this with you!  The lovely Robyn from Sewing The Seasons has just released her very first pattern The Reversible Headband by Arjay Creations.  I made one last night and it was super quick and easy to make and my daughter LOVES that it is two headbands in one!

One side is pink with My Little Pony!

The other side blue with Tinkerbell

I have one happy little girl :o)

The headband is made with a plain plastic headband inside it.  To reverse the headband you simply twist the fabric around the headband beginning from one end and working your way to the other, it's so easy and such a fantastic idea and would make great birthday gifts!

You can see the blog post Robyn wrote about it here

And you can find the PDF pattern here

Here are some variations that Robyn made with hers!!

I think this is the best headband pattern I have seen in a while, my two older girls have asked me to make them one each too so I am looking forward to doing that and seeing what different looks I can come up with!

What unique look do you think you would make with this fabulous pattern?

Happy sewing!!

Easter Sewing Fun!!!

Oh wow, Easter this year was FABULOUS and I feel like it was made all the more special because of the sweet little 'Mummy made' things I gave my girls.  Have a look at what I made for them, I'm in looooove!! :o)

My girls fondly named their bunnies Lulu, Skyla, and Evie.  How gorgeous!! :o)

Here are some close up pics of one of the bunnies and one of the bunny baskets:

I used the following pattern by Flosstyle to make the gorgeous bunny baskets.  This pattern came in my March Sew Box Subscriptions box and I'm so glad it did because I wouldn't have thought to make these gorgeous items for my girls, it made Easter so much more special this year :o)  I wrote about this March box in a blog post here.  You must see what was in the box and the gorgeous Easter dress I made my princess with a link to the pattern I used.

What is fabulous too is the CUTE bunny crown that is an option in this pattern, it would be perfect for Easter Bonnet Parades at Kindy and school.  You can also make them without the bunny ears so they would suit anything, not just Easter!!  You can find this fabulous pattern here.

And while we're on the topic of all things bunnies, here is another bunny I made for a Sweetdipity customer order, isn't she so sweet? :o)

More fun was had over on the Sew Box Subscriptions - Made By Me Facebook group where people were posting their bunnies and baskets left right and centre, everybody LOVED making them!  Also, the lovely Jane from Lil Pip Designs got creative with the other sweet little notions in the box and made the following GORGEOUS hair accessories, which you can read about in her blog post here

Easter this year was absolutely fabulous and it's all thanks to Sew Box Subscriptions!  I have gone from learning how to make hats, to handbags, to metal frame purses, to sewing with knits, and now I have made softies.  This has been a wonderful learning experience for me and I can't wait to see what else I learn in future boxes!!  If you would like to subscribe, which I HIGHLY recommend, you can do so here :o)

Well I hope you had a fabulous Easter with your loved ones, I'd love to see anything you may have made in the comments section of this blog :o)

Have a lovely afternoon and happy sewing!!

Sewing Up A Storm!!!

Hi!! :o)

So I thought I'd pop up a quick little blog post to show you my latest creations!

Do you remember in a previous post where I introduced you to my Sweetdipity Princess Party Dress? (Click here to see that post).  Well I received 2 more orders for that dress and here they are!

This one is so bright and colourful :o)

And here is the other dress for another sweet little princess...

Here she is looking adorable!!

I just love these dresses, although I will admit they are A LOT of work and took hours upon hours, I was sick of ruffles by the end of it all, haha!!  But the end result is SO worth it!!

I did some more birthday sewing and made this gorgeous Essential Trio handbag by Flosstyle in Paris fabric with a matching Paris Metal Frame Coin Purse by Lil Pip Designs.  This is my third one and I am getting better at them each time I make it.  It turned out so nice I want to make one for myself when I get the chance!

On top of all of that I was asked to make 3 Notepad & Crayon Travel Wallets for 3 lucky little boys.  These were made using a free tutorial which I wrote about in an earlier blog post here

Well I wanted to write a quick post to show you these items I've been busy making, but I also have lots of other pretties up my sleeve too that I have been working on, but I'll save that for my next post :o)

I hope you are all fabulous and well, happy sewing!!

Sweetdipity Princess Party Dress

Hi lovelies!!

Oh I had to jump on and write a quick blog post to share this pretty little dress with you.  This is a bit of a SQUEEEEEEEEELY moment for me because I love what I made SO MUCH!!

I'm calling it the Sweetdipity Princess Party Dress.  It's actually a mash up from all different dresses I have made in the past and I am in love with the result.  A customer from my Sweetdipity page asked me if I could make her little girl a special 'very girly' birthday dress perfect for a party and that her daughter loves pink.  Well I think I met the criteria because she LOVED the result, and so do I :o)

After posting this photo on my Facebook page I got two orders straight away for two other little girls who's birthday's are coming up!  It feels wonderful to know that people like what I make :o)

I'll be sure to post pics of the next two Princess Party Dresses I come up with!!

I hope you're having a fabulous week, happy sewing!!

Oh Sew Pretty!!!!!!

I can't believe it is February already!  The Christmas season flies by so fast!!  How was your festive season?

I feel like I have been SO busy for the past few months, with all my mad rush Christmas sewing leading up to Christmas and completing orders for my Sweetdipity page.  There were also end of year Christmas parties and celebrations at my daughters school and Kindy.  Then of course the busyness of Christmas itself and New Year Celebrations.  As well as keeping the kids entertained throughout the holidays and celebrating 3 out of our family of 5 birthday's (can you believe that?  3 birthdays in a 2 week period with Christmas and New Year in between!!), and finally, back to school shopping and organisation, PHEW!!

Now February is here, the kids are back at school, routine has kicked in again, and it's finally time to sit back and relax...  Oh who am I kidding, I'm a Mum!!  Haha!! ;o)  Only joking, my relaxing time is when I get to disappear into my sewing room and lose myself in whatever my latest creation is.  I find sewing so therapeutic.  I think it's a wonderful thing to have a hobby, everybody should have one, it's good for the heart and soul I reckon :o)

So this month's Sew Box Subscriptions Box was an "Oh Sew Pretty" theme and Oh so pretty it WAS!!!  You know how I have been mentioning my list of new skills?  From making a hat, to a handbag, to sewing with knits?  Well now, I have learnt how to make a METAL FRAME PURSE and a cute one at that too, oh I'm so excited!!

Anyway, before I go on, here is this month's box!!  It really is Oh Sew Pretty!!

This pretty box contained the following:

  • Olivia Cushion Pattern by fabricdirect.com.au
  • Lil Pip Coin Purse Pattern by Lil Pip Designs
  • Teeny Teapot Pattern by Ric Rac
  • 1m x Shabby chic blue with roses fabric
  • 1/2m x Shabby chic white with tiny roses fabric
  • Pink & Blue blended wool felt + felt offer from Bumble Bee Designs
  • 3 x Coin Purse Frames - 1 x large, 2 x small
  • 5 x Fancy lace zippers - 5 assorted colours
  • Embroidery thread multipack
  • 10 x Mixed mini rose buttons
  • 2m x Rosey ribbon with crochet trim
  • Pack of hand sewing needles

The fabric in this month's box is simply STUNNING!!!!!  My imagination went wild as soon as I saw it, I thought of pretty dresses I could make, a skirt or a top, the ideas have been whirling around in my head and I don't know what to pick!  This fabric would work with ANYTHING!!  I did get straight in and make my cute little coin purse though.  Have a look at it!!!!

Ohmygosh it's so cute, I can't believe I MADE THAT!! Here is a pic of the one made by the lovely Lil Pip who created the coin purse tutorial:

Click here to read through Lil Pip's fabulous tutorial on how to make these.  It is a wonderfully written tutorial that made the little purse so simple to make and lots of fun.  Oh and be sure to read her future posts after this one because she has all different tutorials of variations in shapes, design ideas and sizes that you can choose from too :o)

Now how GORGEOUS is the Teeny Teapot Pin Cushion (pictured below) by Ric Rac?  Oh I'm in love!!  Some lovely subscribers posted their photos of the teapots they made on the Made By Me group and gosh they're all so teeny and CUTE!!

Even more fun is this stunning Filigree Zippered Purse that Sewing The Seasons came up with!!  It would make the perfect gift, or a handy makeup bag or bathroom travel bag.  I absolutely love it.  Click here to see more detailed pictures and the tutorial, I cannot wait to make one myself!!

Well I think the Oh Sew Pretty box definitely impressed (yet again).  I cannot wait to see what is in store for March!  Have you subscribed yet?

Before I go, I had to share a photo of the lovely surprise my beautiful husband gave me for Valentines Day, I'm glad he's such a romantic sometimes and I felt very special on Valentines Day this year with a dozen red rose, a pretty new red vase and chocolates, he can be such a sweetheart that hubby of mine :o)

Did you get spoilt this Valentines Day?  I hope so, you deserve it :o)

Until next time, happy sewing!!

Summer Days... I Learnt to Sew With Knit Fabric!! :o)

Hi!!

Welcome to January, a fresh new year!  Have you chosen your New Years Resolutions? :o)

This month's Sew Box Subscription Box - Summer Days theme - has been LOTS of fun!  I have learnt ANOTHER new skill... sewing with KNIT fabric!!  I was quite scared but the fabulous pattern made it easy and not only that but Leesa from Sew Box ran a sew-along on the Made By Me page so it was great to ask questions and have the extra guidance and tips to make the dress.

First of all I will show you what was in the box! (The most exciting part!!)

Here are the fabulous items included in this month's box!
  • Coastal Breeze Dress Pattern by Make It Perfect
  • Make It Yourself Beach Bag Pattern by 4girlsdesigns
  • 1m x Anchors Away navy cotton fabric
  • 1/2m x Beachhouse Richloom Solar fabric
  • Packet of Birch Wonderclips
  • 3m x Navy Bias Binding
  • Mixed coconut shell buttons
  • 1m x Navy satin ribbon
  • Fabric offer and discount from Zebra Fabrics - perfect for the Coastal Breeze Dress
Everything (as usual) was gorgeous and I have had LOTS of fun!  Here is the Coastal Breeze Dress I made for myself, I am so happy with how it turned out and proud that I have now sewn with knit fabric, yay!!  It was actually really easy and no problem at all sewing with this fabric, I don't know what I was so worried about.  I am so excited that I finally made something for me, now I feel like making something else for me too!  It's nice to sew something other then kids clothes :o)

The navy anchor fabric is just so pretty and I decided to turn it into a sweet little anchor set for my littlest daughter.  I made her this sweet little skirt and I embellished a store bought white top with an anchor, I love how it turned out :o)

After I made this set, I decided to make another 2 sets for my friend who has a sweet little 2 year old, here they are...

Here is the adorably sweet little princess wearing the cute outfits I made! LOVE!!!!

What have you been busy creating? :o)

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

Don't you just love Christmas time?

Christmas is my FAVOURITE day of the year, and the thing I love MOST is that moment when my beautiful girls eyes light up when they see the presents under the Christmas tree, I love that moment SO much and is what I look forward too  most... their excitement :o)

Here is a photo of my 3 daughters, my absolute WORLD, all wearing Christmas dresses especially made for them by Mummy...

My 5 year old's dress is the Bo Beep dress by Ainslee Fox Patterns - This pattern came in my November Sew Box Subscriptions Box, you can read all about it in my blog post here
My 12 year old's dress is the Marissa by Sis Boom
and my 8 year old's dress is the Deedee by Bobkin

They all loved them and happily wore them all of Christmas Day :o)

I would now love to wish you all a Happy New Year, and here is my wish for you...

Here are two other pretties I made that I just LOVE and wanted to share :o)

Here is the Darling Playsuit by Tadah Patterns:

And this is the Esmee Cottage Dress by Amelie and Henri :o)

I also had the privilege of testing the latest pattern for Flosstyle Patterns!  The brand new Skittle Skirt, I did muck up when I was cutting though and accidentally cut my 12 year old's skirt too short but it still looks lovely.  The fit is great and both girls love them.  You can have a look at the pattern here, and what's great about it too is that it goes right up to a girls size 16/ladies 10 so I will be able to make one for myself too!! :o)

I do hope you have had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL festive season.  I will be back soon with my latest Sew Box blog, the January box has already arrived and I have started having fun! :o)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

December Sew Box Subscriptions plus Sew Box for Kids!!!

So I have been very busy madly sewing for Christmas that I haven't had a chance to blog about my exciting December Sew Box Subscriptions box this month (you can sign up here, it's the best thing everrrrrrrr!!!)

Here are what goodies were found in the December box!!

Everything is GORGEOUS, I am so in love!  The contents included:
  • 4 x different designs of cotton linen fabric including blackbirds, hibiscus flowers, Paris & floral each measuring 50cm x 70cm
  • The Essential Trio Pattern by Flosstyle Patterns
  • Santa Sack Pattern by Tied With A Ribbon plus Discount Voucher
  • Ipad/Tablet Cover Pattern by Little Moo Designs plus Discount Voucher - I purchased the Kids Messenger Bag pattern
  • Assorted pack of GORGEOUS Wooden Buttons in 3 designs
  • pack of "Handmade" Wooden Buttons - So lovely!
  • Swatch Buddies - Reusable Fabric Swatch Kit - So handy!
  • Discount Voucher to fabricdirect.com.au
  • Back Issue of BeSpoke Magazine
This was such an exciting box and what I love is that I learnt yet another new skill, making HANDBAGS!!  The Essential Trio Pattern by Flosstyle was fantastic (as usual).  The instructions are clear and made the bag so simple to make, I can't believe I can now make bags!!  Yayyy!!!!  They weren't scary at all either, in fact they were EASY!!  Here are the two I made, these were made for my youngest daughter's Kindy teachers and I put chocolates and Coffee Club Vouchers inside for their Christmas gifts, they loved their present :o)

It was so nice to be able to personalise them with the little "Handmade" wooden button that came in the box, I think that made the bag extra special :o)

So in the first month of Sew Box I learnt how to make hats, the second month, bunting and TONS of different Christmas gift ideas, this month, handbags.  I love how much I am learning!!

Have you signed up to Sew Box Subscriptions yet?  Oh I say you must!! :o)

Now on top of this month's excitement, Sew Box also released a Kids Learn To Sew Kit with two different options.  One for sewing without a machine and one for sewing with a machine.  I purchased both, the non machine kit for my 8 year old, and the sewing machine kit for my 12 year old.  When they turned up I had to peek inside and was THRILLED.  They are jam packed with goodies and were such great value, these are going to be fabulous Christmas gifts for the girls :o)

The Kids Craft Sewing Kit included the following items:
  • My First Sewing Book or My First Sewing Machine Book - 35 easy and fun projects
  • Rainbow cotton fabric - 5 colours, each 50cm x 55cm in size
  • Sewing Kit including storage case, tape measure, seam ripper, scissors, pin cushion, needle threader, thimble, safety pins, 8 colours of thread, and needles
  • Felt x 4 coloured sheets
  • Ribbon - 3 colours, each 9mm x 3m
  • Craft Glue - 60ml
  • Kids fun retractable tape measure
  • Pack of assorted buttons
  • Stationary - Graph paper, pencil and ruler
  • Pack of assorted goggle eyes
  • Certificate of Achievement
I cannot WAIT for my girls to receive these on Christmas day!!! :o)

The best thing about sew box is not only the inspiration, the outside of the box ideas, the new things I am learning every month, and the whole excitement of receiving a present to myself each month, of which I never know what will be inside, but it's the value!!  Every month there is 2-3 sewing patterns, good quality fabrics, notions, sewing tools, latest gadgets, discount vouchers, trims and more!  They are $44 a month which includes delivery but there is always around $85 worth of value!  I love it so much :o)

I also got the chance to use my little "Swatch Buddies" that came in this month's box when I went to the fabric store to find coordinating fabric for the Paris bag I made.  What a nifty little tool :o)

And you must head on over to Sewing The Seasons to have a look at this gorgeous Wooden Button Wall Hanging she created, isn't it just beautiful?  I love how the lovely lady behind this blog always comes up with something unique and different to the patterns that are in the box, it shows how you can let your imagine take you wherever it wants to go with he contents of the box.  I would love to make a wall hanging like this as a Mother's Day gift for my Mum!!  Click here to see the tutorial :o)

Are you all ready for Christmas?  I'd love to hear if you had any inspiration from my blog for the handmade things you made your loved ones as Christmas gifts :o)

Happy sewing!!
